Our brief was to refurbish one floor of a prestigious office block in Luxembourg for a company who we had previously worked with in London. We had never worked outside the UK in the past so the challenge was exciting, we contacted the DTI who were very helpful and all necessary paperwork and formalities were in place before work commenced, we sourced all European sockets within the UK. The work comprised of air conditioning, services to 100+ desks via floor boxes containing power, data, and voice outlets, lighting, fire detection system, access system, projection and audio systems, partitioning, new electrical distribution boards, communications cabinets and the fit out of 2 kitchen areas. We had no difficulty working in Luxembourg and the project went very smoothly, the company liked the fact that we could do the whole refurbishment and that our Manager, Peter, was there from initial site survey, to completion. As a result the company gave us a second project in Europe, this time Paris and several more projects in the UK.
Here we worked hand in hand with a large well known medical company, our brief was to install a patient monitoring network and also the hardware to a ‘live’ A & E/Resus Department during normal working hours, with as little disruption and downtime as possible. The patient monitoring network consisted of :- New communications cabinet, patch panel and leads, UPS, all power outlets, Cat5e cabling to RJ45 outlets within 5 bays in A & E/Resus, the Triage Room and Nurses Base. Install new monitors and wall mounts to the 5 bays and Triage Room. Installation can be very tricky within hospital environments especially the A & E department as staff have no idea which bays will be available, or when. As this was a ‘live’ ward we installed to one bay at a time so staff could treat patients in the other bays.
With very little notice, i.e. under 24 hours, we were asked to attend site at Southampton Docks, to install wall mounts and monitors in the medical centre, located on this new luxury liner, which was picking up its first passengers and sailing the following morning for the USA. Our Engineer terminated the pre-installed Cat 5e cables, to the patch panel and the monitor. Cables were tested to 100mb and documented. We installed the wall mounts and monitors, these were load tested. All equipment was left in working order and our engineer left site with hours to spare!
We were asked to install a new Generator and UPS system for a company within the financial sector, for whom a break in their power supply would be catastrophic. Scope of works was to supply and install a 315kVA Generator, civil works to provide a concrete base and electrical distribution cabinet, with underground ducting to 4 buildings. To supply and install 4 off electrical distribution boards, 1 to each building. To supply and install 3 x 30kVA UPS. Some testing work was carried out outside of normal working hours, but the vast majority of the work was carried out during normal working hours with very little disruption to the day to day running of the business. The company were very pleased with the professional way the work was carried out and we have had repeat business from them together with service work.
